2:00 PMHoward Emerson
www.howardemerson.com

He’s really got it swinging!  To paraphrase Oscar Levant, Howard’s playing brings forth two basic emotions: envy and jealousy!!  He flat out plays, bringing syncopation to the forefront, while various compositions emphasize funky slide work and fingerstyle groove or simple, sweet melody, his work is deft and precise, full and rich.  Come see and hear the magic that is Huntington Arts Council Artist Member Howard Emerson fingerpicking guitarist, singer, composer!
3:00 PMLast Charge Of The Light Horse
www.myspace.com/lastcharge

Energetic and subversive rock with literate lyrics, this inspired atmospheric band is chock full of rootsy, unassuming American rock songs.  Unassuming in the best possible way, they rely on quietly winding guitar lines, a skilled subtle underlying rhythm section, and honest, world-wise lyrics.

Long Island-based power trio Gee Davey - a hard hitting mix of fiery guitars, catchy melodies and poignant lyrics - bring to mind superstar bands like Foo Fighters, Green Day and Stone Temple Pilots.   Their live show is nothing but bare-bones, straight-up-the-gut guitar rock… Pearlman’s guitar solo displays are fiery and precise; and his bandmates, Kuhner and Bontempi, back him with hard-hitting, crunchy rhythms. This is spirited meat-and-potatoes rock.

7:00 PMSpecie Circular
www.myspace.com/speciecircular

Started in the spring of 2007 by drummer Jarret Nathan, and guitarists Vincent Morello and Billy San Roman, Specie Circular has gained a respectable following across Long Island thanks to their unique approach to instrumentation and technicality. After a recent lineup change, which included the departure of their original vocalist and the addition of bass player Zach Falkow, the band played through the spring and summer of 2008 as an instrumental act. The fall and winter brought with it the arrival of a new singer, Steve Mecca, and the release of Specie Circular’s first EP, Expansion, recorded at Sabella Studios in Roslyn Heights, New York. With alternative notes of Incubus, Circa Survive, and Radiohead, as well as creative elements “a la Dredg and The Mars Volta” (Fred Knittel, Music Director of WKDU Radio 91.7 FM Philadelphia) the group has developed a style they call "unique but familiar," and promises to explore and develop this subgenre to its fullest extent. Recently, Specie Circular made the choice to revisit the instrumental roots that brought them together and for some time defined them. This dynamic reform marks yet another turning point for the newly restored quartet, who again turn their sights to innovation and a reignited passion for the music they create. In honor of this, Specie Circular will be back in the studio come the winter of 2009/2010.
